Atlanta Dreams fires coach Michael Cooper after 12-22 season!!

The Atlanta Dream have fired coach Michael Cooper after their worst season since 2008.

The WNBA team announced Tuesday that it “decided to part ways” with Cooper, the former Los Angeles Lakers star who guided the team for the last four years.

Leading scorer Angel McCoughtry decided to sit out this season to rest and the Dream plummeted to 12-22. It was the worst showing since a 4-30 mark in their inaugural season as an expansion team.

Cooper was hired by the Dream after they reached the WNBA final for the second time in 2013. Atlanta earned the top seed in the Eastern Conference in his debut season. But it squandered a 19-point, second-half lead at home in the decisive game of its opening playoff series against Chicago.

The Dream missed the playoffs in 2015 and lost to Chicago again last year in the second round.
