ARLINGTON, TX (College Park Center)–WNBA Rookie of the Month for June, Allisha Gray, capped off another impressive performance with a four-point play to put her team up eight with 1:28 left. Gray finished with 20 points to help lead the Dallas Wings to a 94-84 victory over the Atlanta Dream.
Atlanta trailed by 10 points early in the fourth quarter but pulled to 86-82 with 1:28 left on Brittney Sykes’ 3-pointer. Gray answered with Dallas’ first 4-point play of the season for an eight-point lead.
Skylar Diggins-Smith had 21 points and seven assists while Glory Johnson added 13 points and seven rebounds. Karima Christmas-Kelly added 11 points for Dallas. Center Courtney Paris returned to action and played for six minutes and scored 4 points in her first game since being sidelined by a knee injury on May 25. Head coach Fred Williams was also back after missing a couple of games as the Wings improved to 9-9 on the season.
Tiffany Hayes scored 16 points and Sykes added 15 for Atlanta (6-8). Jordan Hooper chipped in 13 points, and Damiris Dantas and Elizabeth Williams each had 10. Sancho Lyttle played just 11 minutes after injuring her nose.
The two teams will match up again on July 9 when the Wings head to Atlanta.
